Our objectives of work with CRY

  • To create awareness and educate community on child rights.
  • To campaign for the right to education and right to work with special focus on capacitating the community to take forward CSS campaign.
  • To monitoring the ICDS program and motivating people to demand new child care centres in their hamlets.
  • To campaign on activating and retaining public health centres (PHC's) and demand for new sub centres.
  • To assist the oppressed community to improve their conditions - socially, educationally, economically and in health.

Our work with CRY

SMVS has played a critical role in establishing child rights across Parbhani and Latur district. Sankalp team has strong associations with the CBO groups, mainly consisting of Mahila Mandals (women's groups) in the operational area. The team has a focus on malnourished children.

With the help of the concerned authorities, request was put forth to initiate the recess of Bal Vikas Kendra for the identified malnourished children and they were given 10 days treatment with proper supplementary food and care. Some of the major program highlights are:

  • 231 (M-116; F-115) Birth Registration and Death Registration: 19 (M-10; F-9) were registered during the year.
  • 7 Primary Health Centres and 4 sub centres were activated during the year.
  • 291 children got immunized and 904 received health check-ups.
  • 11 ICDS canters were activated during the year.
  • 94 (M-51; F-43) cases of malnourishment were identified and 156 pregnant women and 153 lactating mothers received supplementary nutrition during the year.
  • 289 (M136 F153) children were prevented from migration.
  • 664 children were enrolled into public schools during the review period.
  • 269 (M-124, F-145) children were prevented from migration and re-enrolled in school. Strengthening of 27 children groups with inclusion of 202 new members was done during the year.

Future Plans

  • To work towards strengthening and formation of School Management Committees and rectify the identified issues at the schools.
  • To work closely with the identified malnourished children and anaemic women by providing supplementary nutrition to all eligible children and pregnant, lactating mothers.
  • To work closely with identified children in labour with a target of 269 children to be removed from child labour.
  • Formation and strengthening of 40 children's group and their participation in every process.
  • To prevent migration of children in all 20 villages.
  • To work with women group on women's rights.
